Terms of Service

Effective August 20, 2026

These Terms govern your use of the Deter website, browser extension, account services, trial, Rescue Coach, and paid subscriptions. By using Deter, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Eligibility and who Deter is for

Deter is a self-management tool for adults who choose to interrupt access to adult websites on their own browser. It is not parental-control software, employee monitoring, medical treatment, therapy, crisis support, or a guaranteed cure for addiction. Do not rely on Deter for emergencies. Contact local emergency or qualified professional services when appropriate.

Your account

You are responsible for providing accurate account information, protecting access to your email and browser profile, and using Deter lawfully. You may not interfere with security controls, abuse public endpoints, access another person's data, or use the service to violate another person's rights.

Blocking limitations

Deter uses browser extension rules and a curated domain list. No blocklist can guarantee that every adult site, mirror, new domain, non-web application, or explicit item will be blocked. Browser limitations, extension removal, private browsing settings, other profiles, network conditions, and software changes may affect coverage. You remain responsible for your choices and device configuration.

Trial and subscriptions

Eligible new accounts can activate one seven-day trial without entering a payment card. Starting a trial does not automatically enroll you in a paid plan. When trial access ends, you must deliberately choose monthly or yearly checkout to continue paid features.

Displayed prices are $2.99 per month or $29.90 per year unless a different price is clearly shown before checkout. Taxes, currency conversion, or provider charges may apply. Paid access is granted only after Deter verifies the provider-confirmed transaction. We may correct obvious pricing or configuration errors before accepting a transaction.

Renewal, cancellation, and payment issues

A paid subscription renews on its billing schedule until renewal is cancelled. You can request cancellation through Deter's billing controls. Cancellation stops future renewal; access continues through the already-paid period. A failed renewal does not extend access and may require you to update billing or subscribe again.

Deter does not currently offer a Resume Renewal action. After cancelled access expires, continued use requires a new subscription.

Except where required by applicable law, charges for completed billing periods are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, contact hello@usedeter.space promptly with non-sensitive transaction details. Do not email complete card numbers, PINs, CVVs, or one-time passwords.

Rescue Coach

Rescue Coach generates brief general-purpose support using an AI provider. Responses may be incomplete or wrong. Session and daily limits apply. Do not use Rescue Coach for diagnosis, treatment, legal advice, emergencies, or crisis intervention.

Intellectual property

Deter's name, logo, extension, website design, and original content are owned by or licensed to Deter. These Terms do not grant permission to copy, reverse engineer where prohibited by law, resell, or use our branding to imply endorsement.

Availability and changes

We may maintain, modify, suspend, or discontinue features as the product evolves. We aim for reliable protection but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. Browser stores, Supabase, Paystack, OpenAI, email delivery, and network providers are independent services whose availability can affect Deter.

Disclaimers and liability

To the extent permitted by law, Deter is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, complete blocklist coverage, or any particular personal outcome. To the extent permitted by law, Deter is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Termination

You may stop using Deter at any time. We may restrict or terminate access for material abuse, fraud, security threats, unlawful conduct, or serious violation of these Terms, subject to applicable law and paid-access obligations.

Governing law

The governing-law jurisdiction and dispute forum require owner and legal review before public launch. No jurisdiction is designated by these draft Terms.
